SalesMap customer terms
Version 2026-10-21.
1. What you get
SalesMap returns, through its API, MCP server and CLI:
- facts and signals about companies, each with the link to its source and the date we read it;
- people named on a company’s own website, in an official public filing, in a data provider’s business profile, or in a search engine’s result for their public LinkedIn profile: name, title, source link and date;
- public posts people published about their work (for example on LinkedIn or X), through Monid, a data provider we use as part of our service.
For people at companies in the EU, the EEA, the UK or Switzerland we return the role and its source link, not the name, until our notices and representatives there are in place. We do not provide email addresses or phone numbers. Data you upload, such as your own contact or CRM exports, comes back only to you.
2. What you may use it for
Business-to-business prospecting: finding companies that may want to buy from you, and the roles to talk to there. You may not use it:
- to decide anyone’s eligibility for credit, insurance, housing, employment or any other purpose covered by the US Fair Credit Reporting Act;
- to screen, track or profile people outside their work role;
- to train or improve a model or dataset you offer to others.
3. Your obligations
- Follow the law where you send. Anti-spam and privacy laws apply to your outreach: CAN-SPAM in the US, CASL in Canada, PECR and UK GDPR in the UK, GDPR and national rules in the EU (some EU countries require consent even for business email), and the US and UK do-not-call rules for calls. You are responsible for your own lawful basis and notices.
- Don’t resell. You may not sell, license, share or publish SalesMap data, or a list built from it, to anyone else. Your employees and contractors may use it for your business.
- Delete on request. When we tell you a person has opted out or asked for deletion, delete what you got from us about them within 30 days, and don’t contact them again using it. If someone asks you directly, delete it and you may tell us.
- Keep it safe. Protect the data and your API keys with reasonable security. Tell us within 72 hours if either leaks.
- No transfers to countries of concern. Don’t send person data from SalesMap to China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, Cuba or Venezuela, or to people or companies controlled from them (28 CFR Part 202).
4. Upstream terms
Some facts come from data providers. Their terms pass through to you:
- TheirStack (job posts and technology data, its terms §4): you may use its data only inside your own use of SalesMap, not as a dataset or feed of its own; you may not use it to build a product that competes with TheirStack; your terms with anyone you give access to must be at least this strict (§4.11).
- Data from a provider whose terms forbid passing it on never leaves our servers.
5. California
If California law treats what we give you as a sale or disclosure of personal information (CCPA §1798.100(d)), you:
- use it only for the purpose in §2;
- comply with the CCPA and give the information the same protection the CCPA requires of us;
- tell us if you can no longer meet these obligations;
- let us take reasonable steps to stop and fix any unauthorised use.
6. Data you upload
When you upload data about people, such as a CRM export or a LinkedIn Connections.csv, we process it only to answer your requests, under our data processing agreement (salesmap.site/dpa), which is part of these terms.
7. Ending
If you break §2 or §3 we may suspend your keys. When your account ends, stop using the data and delete it within 30 days, except what the law requires you to keep.
